Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley Elects New Board Members

Jane Russo was elected to the Board of Directors of Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley, Inc. on August 9th. Marianne D’Arrigo-Houle, Pat Sallay, Maxine Torres-Pool, and Carolyne West-Karnofel were elected to a second three-year term on the Board of Directors at the Annual Membership Meeting on July 19th. Chuck Des Roches was elected to his first three-year term on the Board.

At the Annual Meeting, Luther Vaden, who retired from the Board of Directors and six years as Chairman of the Fundraising Committee was honored for his service to Meals on Wheels. Ed Silacci, who retired after eight years on the Fundraising Committee, was also recognized for his many years of service.

Highlights of services provided from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010 include:

meals were delivered to 473 people

114,250 nutritious meals were delivered to clients’ homes

128 individuals and groups volunteered to deliver meals and serve on the Board of Directors and Committees

6,785 hours were donated by our volunteers

49,578 miles were driven by our volunteers to deliver meals
