Client Stories

Samuel Kelley has been getting meals from Meals on Wheels for almost eight years. After working as a hairdresser, chef, and flight attendant for 13 years, his life took a turn and he found himself homeless. When he moved into a senior housing complex in Salinas, he was malnourished, underweight, and too weak to shop or cook for himself. The nutritious meals delivered to his home have helped restore his health. “It’s a good thing to get meals on wheels and it’s nice to have someone to bring your meals.”
Mr. Kelley, born in Cleveland, Ohio, has lived in Salinas since 1968. When asked what he thinks about the people who deliver the meals to him, he said, “They are very nice, very nice!”
