VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
A little time can make a HUGE difference in someone’s life. The following volunteer opportunities are available with Meals on Wheels:
Driver
- Delivers meals to clients’ homes
- In Salinas we need volunteer drivers to help on Tuesdays or Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- In North County, Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield, and King City we need drivers on Wednesdays. Currently we especially need volunteer drivers to help deliver meals in Greenfield and King City.
Helper
- Assists driver to deliver meals to clients' homes
- Students needing community service hours are welcomed as helpers. They can help on their spring, winter and summer vacations.
Meal Distribution Assistant
- Helps organize meals for the volunteers to pick-up from the Meals on Wheels facility in Salinas on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Committee Member
- Serves on a Board committee as a community representative. Committees meet monthly for about an hour.
- Agency Operations Committee - oversees finance, personnel, insurance, Board Development
- Client/Volunteer Services Committee - helps with client and volunteer recruitment, marketing, food quality
- Fundraising Committee – help to establish personal relationships with donors and provide input on grants, planned giving, major gifts, direct mail, and special events.
We do not accept court referrals.
